This past Saturday, June 22nd, the Friends of the Outdoor Center held a sold-out mural painting class, led and taught by local artist Barbara Weisenburg (who operates Blackberry Mountain Studio and has painted all over the world: locally at Mackinac Island and as far away as Australia).
Every one of the 20 attendees chose which mural they wanted to paint, and then each boldly tackled a section of it. It was a great success, and most of the attendees (many who were self-proclaimed “not artists”) were amazed at what they accomplished and how well the murals came together and looked great! Barbara even had a surprise raffle at the end for each of her original smaller paintings that she used to create the larger murals.
The murals will be a wonderful addition to the craft barn once they are hung up, and they will help bring inspiration to our future crafting classes! Make sure to check out our events page for future crafting events!
