The Great Lakes Star Gaze event is now in its 24th year and the second year being held at the historic Ocqueoc Outdoor Center. This event is a key fundraiser for the Ocqueoc Outdoor Center which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1933.
Join us under the dark skies during the New Moon phase when the skies are the darkest and the viewing opportunities are optimal. Hosted by the Friends of the Ocqueoc Outdoor Center, individuals and families are encouraged to attend. There will be a program speaker and guided night viewing making this event educational and memorable. Participants will learn about space and the solar system. There are very few places where one can view dark skies and enjoy the opportunity to view through pre-positioned professional telescopes.
Registration for overnight camping and lodging at the OOC will begin later this summer so mark your calendars and plan to reserve your space. You can follow us on Facebook for updates.
The Dark Sky & Stargazers Camping Event in 2025 was an Astronomical Success!
Seasoned astronomers and hobbyists gathered at the Ocqueoc Outdoor Center in the new moon phase on September 20, 2025 to learn, look, and be amazed.
